😎 I'm Sorry
Happy er um yikes sigh ugh New Year!
I was going to say 2025 is going to be our year, but already it's a bag of shit! Between the fires in California and the fire coming out of Trump’s mouth, 2025 is already officially toxic! It feels wrong to write about anything else but the horrific fires in Los Angeles. I broke my promise to myself that I was not going to watch the news in 2025 by having the news on literally 24/7 watching L.A. burn. My first thought when the fire started was Ben Affleck with his permanent cranky face and his hand always hanging out his car window holding a cigarette… Did he drop it?
Obviously, I’m kidding. And there is literally nothing funny about any of this. Just pure hell for everyone from the victims to the firefighters.
Fires are so scary. There’s nothing you can do except watch in horror. Think about it, fires are used in phrases as examples of the worst thing to happen to someone to express losing everything; It’s like my house burned down to the ground?!
And now this is actually many people's reality today. And not just rich celebs, everyone from the valets to the CEOs have been affected, traumatized and broken.
And the animals. Ugh the animals. My heart hurts. I’m so sorry.
Years ago, our next-door neighbors’ house burned down to the ground. My kids were toddlers and all though the only crazy damage to our house was water from the firefighters’ hoses never letting up, spraying our home for hours, protecting it, saving it, I believe both my boys, still, are dealing with trauma from fleeing the scene while watching the flames engulf next door on that horrible night. Meanwhile Los Angeles is still burning. The fires are not contained, it’s not even over yet. So many families are homeless! After the shock and realization sinks in and the feelings of gratefulness that you’re alive subsides, next comes the depression of the reality that everything is gone. The cleanup and rebuilding will take forever and a day. I, like many of you, know someone who lost their home. Devastating! Now what? I don't know. What do all these people do? I have only one useless thought this week.
Useless Thought
Emmy & Golden Globe winner Jean Smart has a suggestion, she posted this, because it’s award season, and many more award shows are set to air soon, mind you she just won yet another one on Sunday at the Globes….
Easy for her to say, she’s won a bunch and already got to thank everyone on camera! But I have a better suggestion. Don't worry whether it airs or not? What they need is money and since award shows are filled with VERY RICH celebrities, have each celeb donate $100,000 dollars at the door. Each one. If you bring a guest, then $200,000. Why make just the network pay? You pay! All of you! The networks can match. There! Just doubled the money!
I’m going to sign off for now with a quote from one of the best humanitarians America has ever known, a man who just recently passed after giving back to society his entire life, Jimmy Carter:
The bond of our common humanity is stronger than the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices. God gives us the capacity for choice. We can choose to work together for peace. We can choose to alleviate suffering. We can make these changes and we must remember that there are many ways to accomplish our goals, together.
— Jimmy Carter
Rip sweet man.🙏
Sending love to California.
Until next time folks!
And…Sorry you can’t unread this!
