So Now What?
Wowza! A convicted-felon just beat another woman to become President of the United States. Sounds about right. How did she lose? Could it be because…
She’s for inclusion?
She’s pro choice?
She cares about the environment?
She’s too woke?
Not woke enough?
She’s a moderate?
She’s not moderate enough?
She’s too Christian?
She’s not Christian enough?
She’s a woman?
She’s not a man?
She’s black?
She’s Indian?
She’s mixed race?
The war in the Middle East?
The war in Ukraine?
She didn’t go on Joe Rogan?
She went on SNL?
She didn’t answer enough questions?
America is racist?
America is sexist?
America is xenophobic?
America is too gay?
Black people didn't vote for her?
White people didn't vote for her?
Latinos didn’t vote for her?
She’s too educated?
The economy?
The border?
Joe Biden stepping down?
Her laugh?
You got me? I don't get it. I’m grateful he won by a landslide because had it been closer it would have felt like more of a loss. America voted and wanted Trump! With the Republicans winning the Senate and with a Republican Supreme Court and Republican President there is nothing to stop them from pushing through their agenda. No stalling, no fighting. Every decision will pass smooth and easy. Yay to all the folks who wanted this, congrats, you will soon get everything you’ve ever wished for.
So now what? Well for starters, I’m not going to watch the news for the next four years. I did that last time and was gaslit every night by the media who are obsessed with Trump. I will unfollow certain news feeds on social media. The Washington Post and AP News, who are also obsessed with Trump and happily produce 24/7 anxiety riddled clickbait content.
I don’t even know what a Democrat is anymore. Defund the Police? WHAT?! No thanks. From the River to the Sea? Hard pass! Clearly we’ve lost our way. And hoping to win on the platform that Trump’s a fascist when most Americans don't even know what the word “fascist” even means was mind numbing. If we want to get back on the right path, we need a contender and a Democratic party that's willing to fight without pulling their punches. No more allowing Supreme Court picks to be stolen without some kind of proportionate response. And no more slow-rolling the prosecution of presidents who commit insurrection because we’re afraid of appearing too partisan.
Until then, I wish Trump well. I will support our Country and hope for the best and refuse to be gaslit by the bullshit thrown every day, the constant drama and focus on loving my family, dogs and walks in nature. I’ll leave you with a quote, lyrics by George Harrison and words I live by and find very soothing:
❝
Give me hope, help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to touch and reach you with
Heart and soul
- George Harrison
